Swatilekha Sengupta Passes Away At 71: Satyajit Ray’s Ghare Baire Star Succumbs To Kidney Disease
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award recipient and one of the spearheads of the theatre group Nandikar, Swatilekha Sengupta passes away at the private hospital in Kolkata after being admitted there with renal problems.
The Ghare Baire fame veteran actress, Swatilekha Sengupta who was suffering from Kidney ailments for the past 25 days took her last breath in the private hospital in Kolkata at the mere age of 71.
Swatilekha was fighting her battle with kidney ailments for the past 24 days was undergoing treatment at the private hospital. Her daughter who was present at the time of her demise told the PTI that she died around 3 pm. Swatilekha Sengupta had brought many inspiring movies to the film industry in her career and has been one of the powerful actresses in the industry. From playing the role of Arati in Shiboprasad Mukherjee to appearing in Nandita Roy’s blockbuster ‘Bela Seshe’ Swatilekha has been a phenomenon to many new artists and she still inspires many. Their sudden demise has left many celebrities in shambles. Swatilekha’s death has been termed as a ‘huge loss’ by the film industry. In her long career Swatilekha had always been generous and kind to everyone, she and her husband, Rudraprasad Sengupta even contributed towards the Bengali theater which remains unequaled.
Rudraprasad and Swatilekha’s only daughter Sohini Sengupta who is also a great actress and has appeared in many movies, on the loss of her precious mother said ‘’My mom was a great human being and artist. Her work will be remembered. brilliant student. She was a gold medalist. She helped a lot of people.’’ Swatilekha Sengupta's death has left her family and friends devastated and heartbroken.
